GUESTS were wowed by “The Power of Three” at the Makati Shangri-La where HSBC, in partnership with Sun Cellular and Samsung Mobile Phones, recently launched its latest red-hot promo. Intrigued by the triangular invitation that proclaimed The Power of Three, curious guests walked into the Quezon Ballroom to find themselves surrounded by life-size images of powerhouse trios, ranging from Charlie’s Angels to The Chipmunks.

“The Power of Three theme refers to the phenomenal effect of three great forces coming together,” said Suresh Nanoo, HSBC’s SVP and head of Personal Financial Services. “In this case, HSBC’s partnership with Sun Cellular and Samsung Mobile Phones results in a phenomenal deal for new HSBC cardholders who can get an exclusive brand-new Samsung M620 slider handset in silver absolutely free with a Sun Cellular Plan P350 subscription.”

Made exclusive with extras such as customized wallpaper, ringtone and a 128MB Samsung SD memory card, the package is only available under this promo. “HSBC cardholders will be among the first to own this hot-new phone in silver. Only the black versions of the units will be available in the retail market and not before July 2008,” Nanoo said.

After hamming it up and posing for pictures with the various famous trios, the guests settled down for a sumptuous lunch after which the trio of hosts Gabe Mercado, Tim Tayag, Kenny Waymack announced, “Let the games begin!”

Three trios of contestants wracked their brains as the hosts challenged them with questions on famous threesomes, “three-quels” and, of course, the three powerhouse brands: HSBC, Sun Cellular and Samsung.

The members of the triumphant trios from both games walked away with a brand-new Samsung M620 each, even as all the other guests expressed surprise that such a great phone was being given away with such an affordable subscription plan.

“The Samsung M620 slider has a 1.9" TFT color screen, VGA camera, MP3 and video players, an FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, triband capabilities and comes with many other accessories. Fashionable and functional, this mobile exhibits a modern and sleek look that appeals to everyone,” said Fe Varilla, head of Samsung Mobile Phones.

“We offer the best handset lineup with an unmatched call and text package at the most affordable plans,” added Ricky Peńa, Sun Cellular’s VP for Marketing. “Our goal is to give more and more Filipinos the power of voice. As we like to say, Sun-tawag lang ’yan!”

The games finally came to a close but the surprises kept on coming as HSBC raffled off more Samsung M620s, airfare to any local destination of the winner’s choice, and a weekend for two at Boracay’s luxurious Discovery Shores.

“It’s raining phones,” joked Nanoo amid the delighted cries of the prize winners, which he compared to the delight experienced by HSBC credit cardholders. “The HSBC Mabuhay Miles Visa continues to have one of the lowest miles conversion rates around at P45 a mile,” he said.

“This, coupled with the numerous other perks offered by all HSBC credit cards, such as a 3 percent rebate on gas from Caltex, access to exclusive sales, no annual fees for the first year and many others is what continues to make an HSBC credit card an absolute must-have for so many.”
