Computer
manufacturer Hewlett-Packard (HP) unveiled is smallest
fully functional laptop at Bonifacio High Street over
the weekend.
The HP
2133 Mini-Note PC is the first product in the
mini-notebook PC category for HP, although HP
Philippines general manager for the firm’s
personal-systems group Bernadette Nacario insisted that
the Mini-Note is “not a netbook but a fully featured
laptop PC.”
The
Mini-Note has the smallest mobile footprint for a
full-featured laptop, weighing in at 1.19 kilos and
featuring a scratch-proof 8.9-inch screen, touchpad
mouse and integrated wireless-local-access network
connectivity and wireless Internet capability.
It is
designed specifically for mobile youths and business
professionals who wish to “play, learn and work
anywhere—from the classroom, boardroom or café,” Nacario
said. “Mobility is a pervasive lifestyle choice for many
Filipinos.”
The
Mini-Note comes with a large, usable QWERTY keyboard and
comes with a choice of a 4-gigabyte (GB) solid-state
drive flash module with Linux, as well as a standard
120-GB hard-disk drive.
The
Mini-Note also offers HP’s 3D Drive Guard feature to
ensure hard-drive data protection during daily travel
and use. It comes encased in a tamper-proof, lightweight
anodized aluminum case with no visible screws for
enhanced durability.
The
Mini-Note also comes with Bluetooth technology, allowing
users to access the Internet as well as communicate via
e-mail, instant messaging, chat, voice-over- Internet
protocol and blogging.
The
Mini-Note comes in three packages and prices: P24,950
for the 1.0-GHz, 1-GB of random access memory (RAM),
120-GB drive capacity with web cam and Linux operating
system; P29,950 for the 1.2-GHz, 2-GB RAM, 120-GB drive
capacity with web cam and Windows Vista Basic; and
