ADAMSON University
spoiled the debut of basketball ace Kirk Long in another
sport, beating Ateneo, 8-3, Sunday in the University
Athletic Association of the Philippines baseball
tournament at the Rizal Memorial Ballpark.
The
Falcons, last year’s losing finalists, were off to a
blazing start with a 3-1 lead in the third, then added
four more in the next inning.
Long,
who debuted in men’s basketball last year, had a
splendid outing going three-for-four—all on singles. The
point-guard-turned-infielder had an opportunity to score
but was tagged out at the plate on a double-steal
attempt in the third inning.
University of the
Philippines
beat National University, 6-5, on a game-winning hit by
Alvin Holt in the third game.
Games
resume on Thursday at the Rizal Ballpark with NU going
up against Adamson at 8 a.m. It will be followed by UP
against De La Salle and Santo Tomas against Ateneo.
